The SAS Programmer (Data Analyst) participates with a small team of analysts and other support personnel involved with the identification and prosecution of HealthcareFraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) supporting the Defense Health Agency TRICARE Program Integrity Office. This role will perform data mining, analysis, and reporting of TRICARE claims data in response to ad hoc and recurring requests from the Defense Health Agency (DHA) – Program Integrity (PI).
Perform data mining, analysis, and reporting of TRICARE claims data in response to ad hoc and recurring requests from the Defense Health Agency (DHA) – Program Integrity (PI)
Provide consultation in: payment calculation; use of healthcare data.
Support the DHA PI staff and anti-fraud partners
Provide support programming and analytic support services to the DHA anti- fraud team
Support the initial entry of information into the database tracking system, datamining requests, downloading information from the Purchase Care Data Warehouse using SAS and SQL.
Follow program guidance in statistical sampling; payment calculation; use of DHA data; use of diagnosis codes, procedures codes, Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) codes, and revenue codes; and study designs
Pharmaceutical claims, codes, revenue codes, diagnosis
Document all work product for a technical and non-technical audience, both within SAS programs and in project-specific documentation (read me files, task orders, operating procedures, etc.)
Write complex queries to DB2 platform databases and provide technical support to other staff
Develop reports and graphics using alternatives to SAS, such as R software and/or SPSS
BA/BS in Statistics, Information Systems Management, Computer Science or Applied Math or related discipline plus 2 years of experience, preferred. Master’s degree in same degree programs listed above w/no experience is acceptable.
Working knowledge of SAS Analytical package. (including SAS Macro Language and Proc SQL)
Possession of experience in analysis and database management using SAS through coursework, employment, and/or Base SAS certification
Possession of working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Access)
Possession of excellent customer service and organization skills
Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
Must show experience with multitasking with customer requirements, working on small teams and results.
Experience with healthcare coding and billing systems desirable
UNIX/Shell skills desirable
Transact-SQL/DB2 programming skills are preferred
